July 25, 2010 UMCOR

Even through several set backs...we are having an amazing trip!

Friday
The start to our trip was very rocky to say the least...
Angie Lord's car had car problems two days before we left, so we had to scramble to find a rental mini van.
On Friday, Eric was ready to go and at 3pm when he was about to drive to the church with the trailer his truck wold not start. After calling several people to see if he could borrow a truck, he had to rent a full size truck to pull the trailer.

We left an hour late to travel for our first stop, we ran into a back-up on I85, that lasted over an hour. We arrived at Tucker 1st UMC around 11:30 and then got up the at 5:45 to leave to make the drive to New Orleans.

Saturday
We made our trip to The Shed BBQ for the the second year in a row. After eating plates of great bbq and ribs, we arrived to the UMCOR center in plenty of time to unpack and have orientation.

We then split into our work teams for the week and drove as a group to each work site to see where and what we would be working on for the week.

We had a great night of eating pizza, hanging out and starting our book for the week, Start Here: Doing hard things right where you are by Alex and Brett Harris.
